Museum Training – Book Your Place!
Are you a museum volunteer or staff member? Would you like to learn new skills?
As part of our museum development work, the 8th in the East are working with SHARE Museums East to deliver free training courses. These sessions will cover documentation, display and interpretation skills and are open to museum volunteers and staff members from across the region.
The sessions are being run by SHARE with training taking place at various museum venues across the East. SHARE have a wealth of experience in delivering informative and engaging training courses and we are very excited to be working with them.
The first session is titled ‘Keeping a Record: The Essentials of Museum Documentation’ and will provide an introduction to the basic principles of museum documentation. This training will run at three venues over the coming months, with the first taking place at Parham Airfield Museum on 29th September 2015.
We are also running a Basic Display Techniques session, which will be repeated at three venues. These are practical workshops and will include an introduction to musuem display, basic kit demonstration for making standardised displays in museums, and examples of good display techniques.
The final session of the calendar will take place at the 100th Bomb Group Memorial Museum in May 2016. ‘Every Object Tells a Story’ will help museums to identify the key stories they want their objects to tell, and explore the ways in which this can be achieved.
