Record Site Plans

During the Second World War the Air Ministry produced a site plan for the all of the airfields in the United Kingdom and abroad.

The site plans show the runways and buildings and include a key indicating what the building was constructed of, its war time function and the relevant blueprint drawing number, these are extremely handy when out recording airfield sites, or planning your own history walk.

All of the 1940s official Air Ministry Record Site Plans of the airfield, hospital and headquarter sites, used by the 8th USAAF, can be found on the IWM American Air Museum Website.

All of the Record Site Plans were obtained from the archive room at the London RAF Museum, and were digitised by our project partners at the Norfolk Record Office.
